SDA Appointment

Our appointment with the State Department for Adoption and Protection of Rights of Child (SDA) was Monday at noon. We met our facilitator in Mikhailivska Square by St. Michael's and walked over to SDA. People park and drive on the sidewalks. Appointment was about ten minutes with SDA psychologist. Now we wait until 4 pm tomorrow to pick up our SDA referral, which we need to file in the town of the orphanage, Gorodnya. Today's adventure included no apartment hot water or electricity for the afternoon and trying to track down my luggage, which was finally delivered at 11:00 pm.

  1. Ok, Denice, I'm not a professional blogger. In fact, this is my first time. I have been writing you guys throughout the week, but apparently you can't use the "select profile" "name" option. I hope you guys receive this.

Of course we have been counting down the days to see the girls. Joshua, Bennett and Grayson had fun seeing them the other day on skype. I will have them write you, however, they are in bed now.

We hope you guys have so much fun together over the next couple of weeks. Hopefully you will be home earlier than expected so we can hang out with the girls! We are very excited they are going to become part of our family!

Thanks for all your pictures. It's surprising how the country seems modern. I didn't think it would look like that. Especially the underground mall! Of course, I took a special interest in that! Speaking of, it will be fun to go shopping with the girls when they are "home." I'm tired of shopping for khakis, jeans and polos!

Take care and give Inia and Ania a hug! Jeff, Kristin, JOshua, Bennett and Grayson Smolek

  2. Hi Denice, Fred, Inia and Ania! Your last few days sounds like they have been an adventure. I'm glad you are all together now.

Your pictures are very cool, Denice. Thanks for sending them. Give the girls a hug for us and we will write soon. Jeff
